RKB TQO bearings are used on the backup rolls of a 4Hi reversible rolling mill at an Italian heavy steel plate producer. The plant manufactures plates for construction, shipbuilding, and heavy machinery.

RKB bearings replaced those of another premium bearing manufacturer, with supplies starting in 2021. In 2026, additional bearings were contracted, each weighing more than 3,000 kg.

The application had experienced roll neck damage from inner ring grooves and grease cross-contamination that reduced lubricant effectiveness and cylinder life. RKB developed a solution to prevent cross-contamination and restore cylinder life, and also provided on-site support during bearing mounting.
