RKB provided technical assistance for the installation of RKB radial spherical plain bearings on two gearboxes powering the twin shafts of a luxury clipper yacht built in Italy.

The assembly was performed using a dry ice cooling process, which reduced the bearing joints to the required undersized fit for installation.

RKB bearings are already in service on other notable large yachts featuring three shafts with TS bearings and ball joints of the same type.

The bearings installed on these three-masted vessels include three types of RKB single-row tapered roller bearings, which are fitted to every gearbox produced at a major shipbuilding facility in Italy.

Some of these yachts are equipped with the DynaRig sailing system, an innovative square-rigged design originally developed in the 1960s by German engineer Wilhelm Prölß.
